This song is about Clinton Rd, in West Milford NJ. Driving on Clinton Road at night is scary in and of itself, it is dark and windy, with no street lights and ample trees to block the moon and stars. the curves are tight and the speed limit is higher than it should be. There are quiet a few stories of the road, a dead mans cuve equipped with a bridge that if you throw a coin off of it a boy who died there will throw it back, cult ceremonies that were said to have taken place in the broken down structures along side the road, and of course it was alleged to be a dumping ground for mobsters. The funny thing about it is during the day the drive is actually beautiful, and off the road is a hiking trail to terrace pond, an infamous cliff jumping spot for teens.

I've driven Clinton road many times but there was one instance that particularly got to me. I was with a bunch of friends, on an October night. I think we had gone to one of those warehouse haunted houses earlier in the night, some people we were hanging out with got wasted and kinda trolled the workers of the haunted house. For that reason we decided we needed to get our fix on scares so we headed out to Clinton Road. Two cars full of Teens headed out into the woods. Driving this road at night is a scary thing to do in general but when you're looking for trouble on an October night it just really pushes that point.

We got out there, and it's all good if you take the road to the end you are in New York and the only way back home is to take it again so we turned around and drove home, seemingly unscathed we decided to park our cars at the dead mans curve and test what would happen If we threw a quarter over the barrier. As we begin to do that a white pick up truck drives past us, someone even commented "oh look the stereotypical white truck" no sooner did they say that did the car decide to make a dangerously fast u-turn. Everyone we were with bolted into the cars, two cars speeding off with the white truck behind us both. Speeding the truck decides to double line onto the wrong side, and sandwich itself between the car I was driving and the car the rest of our friends were in. They're throwing their high beams on, chasing me at what felt like 100 miles an hour. Everyone is screaming, we called our friends car they say that they're throwing things out of the window of the car at them. We were convinced we were going to get killed, they were trying to drive us off the road. My heart racing knowing that even if we made it to the end of the road there is a traffic light at the intersection of Clinton road and route 23. I knew there was a likely hood that we could pull up get to the red light and there these demons would get out of the car and do what they were planning on doing.

Obviously I did not get attacked by a murderous satanic cult, but we did end up getting stuck at the red light. As our hearts all beating the truck pulls up next to us, we look over and it was a group of teens! We got dooped, we went out looking to get scared when we could have been the ones to scare people!

Since that day I've thought how fun it must be to be teenager pranking innocent people driving down the road and how that must happen far to often there.
